ABOUT US

Here at The Waste Collective, we are committed to keeping our planet clean and supporting the music industry to do so too – particularly in and around Sydney.

As a group of musicians with a passion for live music, we realise music events can pose significant ramifications for our environment. Our goal, then, is simple: to get the music industry to reduce their environmental impacts by bringing them into meaningful conservation with the public, sustainability experts and scientists.

We believe taking care of the planet is
everyone's responsibility.

Knowing the long-standing power of art to provoke change, Gamran has always wanted to put these academic interests together; to have society understand the true breadth of their environmental impacts, and how we can change our habits and infrastructure together for a sustainable future.

Alice Hu

Alice is studying a Bachelor of Music and Mathematics and the University of New South Wales, and is interested in the way scientific and artistic realms interact. As composer, percussionist and musicologist, music has become an irreplaceable form of expression and escape for Alice, who also sees it as a powerful tool to spur societal change. Mathematics, on the other hand, has an embedded beauty that takes shape all around us, and studying it has animated Alice’s world. When she isn’t rehearsing, Alice loves the outdoors – anything from rock climbing to hikes and beaches. Out of this arises a passion for the environment and the belief that it is our everyday sustainable actions that make a difference.
